SUMMARY:MentorLIVE: Weather or Not to Fly
DESCRIPTION:Weather or Not to Fly\nPresenter: Jeff Arnold\nHost: Aaron Dabney\n  \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \nWINGS Credit\nYou can earn WINGS credit for attending this presentation by taking the quiz on FAASafety.gov. \nNew to WINGS? You can register for a free account by clicking here. \nDescription\nIs weather your weakness?  Modern pilots have an extraordinarily wide variety of channels to obtain weather information\, but our track record when it comes to using this information to make decisions continues to leave room for improvement. \nThis presentation will examine select weather decision points\, best practices\, common missteps\, high-level briefing processes\, and how to keep from joining accident statistics. \nAfter participating in this seminar\, you will be a better flight instructor because you’ll be able to: \n\nTeach students how to effectively use the features and services offered by Flight Service.\nTeach and model sound weather decision-making at key decision points.\nHelp students approach weather briefings and decision-making as a systematic process\, rather than a checklist of memorized data points.\nBuild safer pilots by equipping students with the tools\, judgment\, and repeatable processes they need to make sound weather decisions when flying in the NAS independently.\n\n\nPresenter Bio\nJeff Arnold is an Oklahoma State University graduate\, has held flight instructor certificates (All) for 19+ years\, previously served as a Meteorology & Ground school adjunct instructor at Tarrant County College’s flight program\, Program Manager for two large Flight Academies\, and is a former Flight Service Weather Briefer & Air Operations Manager. \nJeff currently serves as the Director of Innovation & Outreach for Leidos Flight Service. \n\n\nPresenter Bio\nAaron Dabney is a lecturer and Chief of Flight Safety at the Baylor University Institute for Aviation Sciences.  Outside of his university position\, he is active as an independent consultant and educator serving flight instructors and as the owner of a small flight school.  An active flight instructor since 2009\, he has provided more than 5\,000 hours of instruction in more than 30 aircraft types. \nAaron’s first airplane ride was in the family Piper Cub at 3 months old; he eventually completed his first solo in that same airplane\, and he and his wife Alisa are now the third generation of his family to serve as its caretakers. \nAaron is a 7-time NAFI Master Flight Instructor and has served on the Board of Directors since 2022.  He also coordinates the MentorLIVE program. \n\n\nSponsor \n\n\n\nThis MentorLIVE presentation is sponsored by Avemco.  \n \n  \n\n\n\nRegister For Event\n\n\n

SUMMARY:SUN 'n FUN Aerospace Expo 2027
DESCRIPTION:From its humble beginnings in 1974 as a fly-in for sport aviation enthusiasts\, the SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo has grown into one of the largest and most successful aviation events on earth. We are Florida’s largest annual convention of any kind\, and each year over 200\,000 visitors flock to what has become known as “Aviation’s Season Opener” or “Spring Break for Pilots.” \nPilots flying into the Expo are fascinated by the vision of hundreds of aircraft showcased in all shapes and sizes. Aircraft areas include Vintage\, Homebuilt\, Aerobatic\, Warbird\, Jet\, and Light Sport. To serve all those flying in\, a major trade show is part of SUN ‘n FUN. Over 500 exhibitors have an incredible lineup of products and services\, hands-on workshops teach hundreds of building and maintenance skills\, and dozens of forums educate pilots and maintainers about safety\, new products\, and an infinite number of other timely topics. Not just for pilots\, SUN ‘n FUN has STEM and Career Fair activities\, plus a Family Oasis and\, of course\, our world-famous daily and night airshows that feature breathtaking displays from dozens of military and civilian performers.
