Flight Instructor Hall of Fame Inducts Trescott

The National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) announced the 2026 Flight Instructor Hall of Fame inductee Max Trescott during its member breakfast at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in Wisconsin on July 23.

PORTAGE, Mich. — August 6, 2026 — The Flight Instructor Hall of Fame has inducted Max Trescott, a nationally recognized flight instructor, aviation educator, author, and media host, as its 2026 honoree.

The Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to aviation education and flight instruction while reflecting credit upon themselves and their profession. It also highlights the essential role flight instructors play in supporting the safety of the national air transportation system. Trescott was also honored during NAFI’s member breakfast at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.

Trescott began aviation as a second career following 25 years as an engineer with Hewlett-Packard. Combining his technical expertise with a passion for teaching, he has made a lasting contribution to general aviation education and safety.

With more than 50 years of flying experience, Trescott has provided more than 11,500 hours of dual instruction, nearly half of them in Cirrus aircraft. In 2008, he was named the National Certificated Flight Instructor of the Year. He holds four airline transport pilot certificates covering each fixed-wing aircraft category and class, as well as a commercial pilot certificate for helicopters.

Through his instruction, writing, broadcasting, and advocacy, Trescott has helped pilots better understand aviation technology, risk management, and sound aeronautical decision-making.

“This year’s honoree is a perfect example of the professionalism and dedication the Hall of Fame was created to recognize,” said NAFI President and Executive Director Brian Wynne.
